About AMKTMC (Church History)

Ang Mo Kio Tamil Methodist Church (AMKTMC) is one of the eight local Methodist Churches that form the Emmanuel Tamil Annual Conference in Singapore. With a humble beginning in the 1970’s to meet the need for Tamil worship in the Ang Mo Kio and Bishan areas, the Church was constituted in 1980 by Bishop Kao Jih Chung. The Church moved into its current premises at 1 Ang Mo Kio Street 21, in the same year sharing the premises with the TRAC and CAC congregations. As a growing congregation, we seek to fulfill the mission that the Lord had given to our Church. Through our Worship Service and ministries we constantly seek God’s guidance in our lives and pray that the Lord to meet the needs of all who walk into our Church.

Key Ministries

Witness & Evangelism

Witness & Evangelism has been one of the cornerstone ministries of AMKTMC. We reach out to people through the following ways
  1. Sharing of Gospel through different ways(Tamil Tuition, Guitar classes, etc.,)
  2. Prison Ministry
  3. Follow up with new believers
  4. Spiritual Guidance for those seeking help.
  5. Tamil Ministry @ Sengkang –
  6. Preparatory classes for new members
  7. Healing Services – 5th Sundays
  8. Personal Evangelism Training

Worship & Music

Our choir strives always to make the worship service more meaningful with the singing of a wide selection of traditional hymns and lyrics that support the sermon topic of the Pastor. We also incorporate new songs in our services that complement the traditional hymns and lyrics we sing. For our Singspiration segment of worship, contemporary songs are chosen which adds to the vibrancy of the church service. Our Pastor shares God’s word with conviction and power that comes from the Lord.

Disciple & Nurture

Our Faith is strengthened by in-depth study of the Word of God. AMKTMC provides, nurtures and facilitates Learning God’s Word by every believer in different forms. As a church we believe in the importance of Prayer and in-depth study of the Word of God which will lead to the Observation, Interpretation and Application of the same in our daily walk of life. Spiritual nurturing is provided through faithful and truth based sermons every Sunday from the Pulpit by our Pastor-In-Charge Rev Albert Vijay Joseph. Other avenues provided for spiritual growth in the making of disciples are provided regularly in our church to enrich the lives of the people in our congregation. We believe in supporting one another and growing together as a family in Christ.

Cell Group Ministry

Our cell-group gives us the opportunity to connect with people who come together on the second and fourth Friday every month on zoom or designated meeting place (If the situation permits), to encourage one another in faith, prayer, understanding Biblical principles, and evangelizing others.

The purpose of AMKTMC cell group are:

Jesus used a small group strategy – Mark 3:14,15
The Early Church met in small groups – Acts 2:46-47, Acts 5:42 , Romans 16:3.

The small group is the building block of the New Testament Church. No one has all the gifts, so we need one another – both to grow and to be His witnesses in the world. The cell group is there to surround you with prayer, keep you accountable in following Christ, and be a support to you during difficult and trying times. In addition, the cell group is the best place to help you to discover your spiritual gifts and teach you how to practically minister to people using those gifts.

Sunday School

Ang Mo Kio Tamil Methodist Church Sunday School is a vibrant place for children in our church. Children from 3 to 16 years are part of our church Sunday School. The children have common sessions where they will have the opportunity to Praise God together through songs and engage with God in an intimate way through worship. We strive to provide them with a safe environment where they can grow in the knowledge of God and to have a personal relationship with God. Divided into 6 groups (Beginners, Primary, Sub-Juniors, Juniors, Intermediate and Seniors) based on their age, they have individual classes with our dedicated team of teachers who break down the word of God into simple and easily understandable methods with the use of PowerPoint presentations, interactive and videos. A structured lesson plan is followed by all the 6 groups to facilitate learning the same topics across all classes. They are also provided with interactive and engaging ways of learning what is being taught to them through games and quizzes.

To learn and memorize God’s word, we provide them with a booklet consisting of Gospel Gems which is essentially bible verses for every week.
It is our sincere hope and prayer that every child should be rooted strongly in the word of God, have a personal relationship with God and grow to be a man and woman of God’s own heart.

We open up our church spaces for youths in the community to get together and have a fun, chill space to study where WiFi, snacks and stationeries will be provided!
