About SELTMC (Church History)

Seletar Tamil Methodist Church (SELTMC) is one of the eight local churches that make up the Emmanuel Tamil Annual Conference (ETAC) in Singapore. With a legacy spanning over 90 years, SELTMC has a rich and meaningful history of serving the Tamil-speaking community through worship, fellowship, and outreach.
Over the decades, SELTMC has held worship services at various locations. Since 2005, we have been worshipping at St. George’s Chapel, located along Changi Loyang Avenue. Our regular Sunday worship service begins at 8:00 a.m.
In 2013, SELTMC established a Preaching Point in Bedok, hosted at Bethesda Bedok Tampines Church. This outreach initiative was born out of a desire to serve the growing Tamil-speaking community in the eastern part of Singapore, particularly in the Bedok and Tampines areas. The Bedok Preaching Point has since become a thriving spiritual extension of our church, with worship services held every Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Through these ministries, SELTMC continues to fulfil its mission of providing a spiritual home and nurturing community for Tamil-speaking families across Singapore.

Ministries

Worship & Music

Regular Sunday worship services are held at both Seletar and the Bedok Preaching Point, with Holy Communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at both locations. In addition, special services are observed during the Lent, Easter, and Christmas seasons, which are always well-attended and meaningfully observed by the congregation.

Witness & Evangelism

Witness and Evangelism is a foundational ministry of Seletar Tamil Methodist Church (SELTMC), reflecting our commitment to sharing the love of Christ within the community. Every Wednesday, a dedicated team visits residential blocks surrounding the Bedok Preaching Point, extending personal invitations to residents to join our worship services. On Thursdays, a group of five men from SELTMC partners with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) to reach out to Tamil-speaking Indian migrant workers, offering friendship, support, and the message of hope found in Christ.

Outreach and Social Concerns

The Outreach and Social Concerns ministry remains dedicated to serving both our church community and those beyond its walls. Through various initiatives, we strive to meet practical needs with compassion and care. We are also actively involved in prison ministry, reaching out to those incarcerated with the hope, love, and restoration found in Christ.

Cell Group Ministry

Seletar Tamil Methodist Church currently has eight active cell groups, which meet on alternate Friday evenings at 8:00 p.m. This ministry is centred on small group gatherings focused on fellowship, Bible study, prayer, and mutual support. These regular meetings foster deeper relationships among members, promote spiritual growth, and provide a space for encouraging one another in their faith journey.

Sunday School

Sunday School is held on every Sunday where children and youth gather to learn more about the Bible in an engaging and age-appropriate environment. Through lessons, stories, and interactive activities, students grow in their faith and discover how to apply God’s Word in their daily lives. It is a warm and welcoming space where young hearts are encouraged to ask questions, connect with one another, and build a strong spiritual foundation. Our heartfelt prayer is that every child will be deeply rooted in God’s Word, develop a close and personal relationship with Him, and grow into individuals who reflect His love and character.

Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF)

The Youth Ministry at Seletar Tamil Methodist Church is growing steadily and remains an integral part of our church community. Our youth programmes offer a well-balanced mix of Bible study, prayer, and fellowship activities, designed to nurture spiritual growth and build strong, Christ-centred relationships. We are truly blessed with an active and dedicated group of youths who are meaningfully involved in Sunday services and various church ministries, using their gifts to serve and glorify God.

Methodist Young Adult Fellowship (MYAF)

While young adults often juggle the demands of family life and career commitments, we recognize the tremendous potential within this vibrant group. It is our prayer and vision to build a strong, supportive young adult community within the church—one that encourages spiritual growth, meaningful connections, and faithful service.

Methodist Men

The Methodist Men are actively involved in various church ministries and maintain a strong spirit of fellowship among the men at both Seletar TMC and the Bedok Preaching Point (BPP). In addition to supporting church events and initiatives, they gather for weekly Bible studies, which help deepen their faith and encourage them to live with integrity, purpose, and Christ-centred values.

WSCS (Women’s Society of Christian Service)

The Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) is a vibrant and active ministry among the women and within the church. The women are engaged in regular Bible studies and prayer. They actively raise funds to support women and children in need locally and overseas missions. The women of WSCS are deeply passionate about strengthening their ministry to support the broader mission and work of the Church. Their active involvement across various church ministries is both evident and inspiring. Notably, WSCS has taken the lead in key areas such as evangelism, missions, and several other church initiatives—demonstrating strong leadership, commitment, and a heart for service.
