Founding & History

Toa Payoh Tamil Methodist Church began its journey, as an outreach of the Short Street Methodist Church, officially constituted on 31 October 1982. Spearheaded initially by Mrs. E Rajaijah, a dedicated member of the ETAC-WSCS, the congregation saw humble beginnings with Bible study and prayer meetings. The church later witnessed regular worship services under the guidance of The Rev. V Prabhu Das since 1979. By 1982, Rev I G Sundararajan took over pastoral duties, further strengthening the bond of the congregation. The church had the honor of celebrating its 41st Anniversary recently, during the month of October 2023.

Ministries Ongoing

TPTMC houses a hive of spiritual activities catering to different age groups and interests. The youth ministry, though small, is bustling with energy, providing a platform for young believers to connect, grow, and serve. The Sunday school lays a strong spiritual foundation for children, introducing them to Biblical teachings at an early age. The women’s service is an empowering space where women gather, support each other, and actively contribute to the church’s mission. Additionally, the church has embraced the digital age by conducting weekly virtual Bible lessons and prayer sessions, making it convenient for members to deepen their understanding of the scriptures from the comfort of their homes.
